I recently bought the Canon 50mm 1.8 lens, and finally, after a grueling wait for it to come in the mail, I got it! This photo is from just my first little attempt with it around the yard… The DOF is wonderfully shallow…
Can’t wait to get out there and take some more!
Love the nifty fifty! Have fun!

I love it too, and I am, thanks! 😀
Have fun with your new glass !!! I love it b/c it’s so lightweight. If you can use EF-S lenses and ever want a good macro – save your pennies for the 60 mm EF-S macro. It takes great macro pix as well as being a good all purpose. BTW – great photo!!
I am having *tons* of fun, and thanks for the info, I’ll look into that 60mm…
Well done 😉
Why, thank you. 🙂
Congratulations! 🙂
Thanks!!! 🙂
Beautiful photo and love the colours! The 50mm is my absolute favorite! When I first got it, I was a little bit too “shallow depth of field happy” and only a sliver of the image would be in focus. Have fun!
Thanks, Neely. It’s such a good lens, and I’m already loving it! 🙂
The 50mm is fantastic!! Enjoy!
It is, and I will, thanks! 🙂
ISN’T IT WONDERFUL?!!!!!!!! sooo creamy!
I’m happy that it finally came (:
It is so great! I like. 🙂
It looks great! And Portrait style always is good for a change. I have Canon’s 50 mm macro, and as it turns out, it’s the sharpest lens I have! I always love Canon’s background blur effects… LOL! You’re like me… A big kid with a toy…
Haha, it seems that way with a lot of photographers… 😀 Thanks for the comment, its always appreciated. 🙂
I absolutely love my 50 mm lens. You are right about the DOF – it has a learning curve but so much fun. I am learning that I can create some wonderful moods with just the right f-stop. Enjoy!
I have to try using some bigger apertures… haven’t quite mastered that yet. And I will enjoy it, Pat, thanks!! 🙂
